Getting your player ready...

Like a salmon swimming against the stream, the “Ultimate Urban Adventure Race” returns to its birthplace in Denver this weekend. The fourth annual Denver Oyster invites weekend warriors and elite athletes alike to compete in its unusual mix of athleticism, thought- provoking strategy and brain teasing as teams of three take to the streets on foot, bike, inline skates and other modes of transport for a race unique unto itself. Benefiting Special Olympics Colorado, this fun-loving event uses REI’s flagship location as a backdrop and takes advantage of the Denver’s vast trail system and unique cityscape to test just how well you and yours stack up in the urban jungle. The day-long race offers three options: traditional (men’s, women’s and coed threesomes), corporate six-pack (you don’t really have to be a corporation, just six people) and family fun (a shorter 10- to 15-mile course).

Do it — Register online at

before Friday’s team check-in at REI, 1416 Platte St., or call 303-777-6887 for more information.
