Getting your player ready...

This is the 40th blog I’ve done since the start of Broncos training camp, which begs the obvious question: Anybody got any blog ideas?

Just kidding. There are any number of issues to address with the Boys of Bowlen. The defensive line, for instance.

Not that the Broncos’ defense is a work in progress, but they ended last season with a front four of Kenard Lang (left end), Michael Myers (left tackle), Gerard Warren (right tackle) and Ebenezer Ekuban (right end.) Of the four, only Ekuban has kept his job.

If the season were to start today, the Broncos would open with John Engelberger at left end, Sam Adams at left tackle, former practice teamer Amon Gordon at right tackle, and Ekuban at right end.

Other than that, nothing has changed since Jim Bates became the defensive coordinator. Even the backups are new. Rookies Jarvis Moss (knee) and Tim Crowder (ankle) have been battling injuries, but if they’re healthy they figure to play extensively. Then there’s Jimmy Kennedy, acquired from St. Louis late in the off-season. He may wind up beating out Gordon.

Regardless of how they line up, though, this much already is obvious about the Broncos’ 2007 defense: It’s going to provide Broncos fans with one wild ride.
