All three Mountain West quarterbacks from the Front Range were named to the 35-man Davey O’Brien watch list for the nation’s top QB.
Colorado State senior Caleb Hanie, Air Force senior Shaun Carney and Wyoming sophomore Karsten Sween made the list.
Carney is on the list for the third consecutive year. The Falcons’ senior is beginning his fourth season as the starting quarterback.
The Rams’ Hanie and the Cowboys’ Sween were nominated for the first time.
The judges consider athletic ability as well as character and leadership qualities. The winner will be announced Dec. 6 and the recipient will be honored Feb. 18, 2008, at the annual awards dinner at the Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Tex.
