The arraignment of Denver Broncos wide receiver David Kircus was continued today until Oct. 2.
Arapahoe County District Judge Valeria Spencer granted a request from Kircus’ lawyer to continue the case of felony assault, with no objection from prosecutors.
Kircus, 27, is accused of punching a man in the face outside a Centennial home in the early hours of May 20. Jeff Krieger, 26, suffered multiple facial fractures in the incident.
Kircus passed a lie-detector test arranged by the Broncos and administered by a former FBI agent, saying he acted in self-defense in a fistfight.
Results of lie-detector tests are typically inadmissable in court.
If convicted, Kircus faces a possible minimum mandatory sentence of five years in prison.
Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has agreed to keep Kircus on the team until his case is resolved.
