Top 10
1. COLUMBINE
With four titles in eight seasons and 14 starters returning, this is a no-brainer. The Rebels have to be handled before even thinking otherwise.
2. MULLEN
Think the Mustangs are crying wolf, don’t you? They have a lot of new players, though it would be foolish to overlook their recent tradition (consecutive seasons of making the semifinals, winning a title and two runners-up in succession) and returning offensive line.
3. DOUGLAS COUNTY
The Huskies have it going on with a 24-3 record the past two seasons, unprecedented participation and interest, and a program that may not vacate the classification elite anytime soon.
4. POMONA
The Panthers have anticipated this season for at least two years. Now is the time to deliver.
5. MOUNTAIN VISTA
We believe. The Golden Eagles, whose players have become consistently good, have built themselves into 5A challengers.
6. BEAR CREEK
Another familiar program in the preseason rankings – and for multiple reasons. The Bears’ offensive approach, toughness and talent make them competitive – as well as fun to watch.
7. GRANDVIEW
An interesting senior class has come and gone, but the Wolves feed off southeastern Aurora talent that keeps coming.
8. OVERLAND
When the Trailblazers have the ability to be sound up front, their veer offense drives opponents crazy. This could be one of those years.
9. LEGACY
Skill and talent may make the Lightning strike in the Front Range League and beyond.
10. CHERRY CREEK
Bruins fans are restless, but this team may be able to relieve any worries.
