COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A minor-league baseball executive who was severely injured in a stadium fireworks explosion in May will make his first public appearance at a Colorado Springs Sky Sox game Sunday.

Rai Henniger (RYE HEN’-uh-gur) will address the crowd shortly before the game starts.

Henniger is a senior vice president for the Sky Sox, the Colorado Rockies’ Triple-A affiliate.

He was placing a fireworks shell into a cylinder before a May 11 game at the time of the explosion. The 47-year-old executive is licensed to handle fireworks.

Doctors said he suffered multiple skull fractures and lost his left eye.
