FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State University plans to launch an online university targeting students who might not otherwise be able to attend CSU due to geography or to family, work and financial needs.
The CSU Board of Governors approved the online university CSU-Colorado on Friday. The business plan calls for a total $12 million investment for the venture.
CSU is partnering with the Colorado Community College System to create CSU-Colorado, which is expected to begin offering classes as early as the third quarter of next year.
CSU officials said demand for higher education in Colorado is expected to more than double over the next 20 years as the population grows.
