The 32nd Governor’s Cup 10K road race, which was scheduled for Sept. 16, has been postponed for lack of a title sponsor.
“The expenses have continued to ratchet up, with no overall sponsor, and we’ve reached a point where we can’t even break even,” said Creigh Kelley of BKB Ltd. “It’s just postponed, because we have some (sponsorship) interest for 2008.”
Founded by former Gov. Dick Lamm, the Governor’s Cup used to be one of the premier races in Colorado. Kelley said he is confident the race can be reborn next year.

U.S. SNOWBOARDING TEAM
Bleiler, Fisher on 2008 roster
Forty-one riders, including pro halfpipe specialists Gretchen Bleiler of Aspen and Steve Fisher of Breckenridge, have been named to the 2008 U.S. Snowboarding roster, according to U.S. Snowboarding program director Jeremy Forster.
“Across the board, U.S. Snowboarding continues to work with the best riders in the country,” Forster said. “From some of the top pros in the industry to the best young up-and-coming talent, this year’s roster is set to be successful at every level of snowboarding as we set our focus on preparing for the 2010 Olympic Games.”
U.S. Snowboarding’s halfpipe squad again will integrate a rookie team that includes Matt Ladley of Steamboat Springs, Broc Waring of Edwards and Dylan Bidez of Minturn, whose sister, Clair Bidez, is on the women’s halfpipe pro team. Olympic medalist Chris Klug of Aspen and Steamboat’s Justin Reiter represent Colorado’s technical riders as two of five racers on the men’s alpine team. Erica Mueller of Steamboat is the state’s lone representative on the women’s alpine team.
