John Lynch after Saturday night’s loss to the Browns: “We need to have some success to help out confidence.”
True, the Broncos defense needs some success. But you know what the Broncos need more than anything?
Travis Henry.
Henry has been criticized left and right after news surfaced that he had fathered nine children with nine different women. But like him or not, he happens to hold the key to the Broncos’ season.
Mike Shanahan was asked during training camp whether he felt Henry could run for 1,500 yards. “I would say 1,500 … or 1,600,” Shanahan said.
Therein lies the Broncos’ ability to control the ball and keep the defense off the field. If they have that ball-control element to their offense, their defensive players would have fresh legs. Not only that, but it also would set up play-action that would benefit the passing game.
Henry hasn’t been around for most of the preseason, but figures to be healthy by the opener at Buffalo. If so, you’re going to see a whole different team than the one that lost to Cleveland on Saturday night.
