Nick enlisted mom to look after his pit-bull mix, Layla, while he prepares for the upcoming Backstreet Boys reunion tour, and even paid her for the dog’s upkeep, according to . But instead of cuddling up to her grand-dog, the Backstreet mom opted to leave the pooch at a North Tampa animal shelter. Carter family acquaintance Ranelle Black had rescued the dog from an L.A. County animal shelter last year and then passed her along to Nick. TMZ reports that Black was alerted to Layla’s latest stint in doggy jail after staff at the Florida shelter located the animal’s microchip. Nick reportedly had spent thousands to have the dog trained and was “very choked up” over what his mother had done.
Actress Patricia Clarkson is in a DIY mood, according to the New York Post’s Braden Keil. Public records indicate that Clarkson recently purchased a Greenwich Village loft for $1.55 million. Keil writes that her new Big Apple digs include 1,600 square feet, one bedroom, two bathrooms, high ceilings, custom built-ins and a walk-in closet.

That led Lawson to say in a recent Radio Times interview: “I know her, and I suspect she has a soft spot for Charles… I’m sorry that even though she’s so great and successful she has to disparage someone else.”
