Getting your player ready...

Some parents think nothing of hauling their children halfway around the world; others are reluctant to take them more than two states away on a road trip. What author J.M. Pasquesi tries to do in “Rome with Kids” ($16.95, Synergy Books) is make a journey to what can be one of the most overwhelming cities on the planet for adults more fun, less stressful and a better balance between educational and interesting for both parents and offspring, and for the most part, she succeeds. Instead of trying to take on too much, Pasquesi instead concentrates on giving short bits of information about the coolest stuff to do and see, with truly intriguing tips and trivia thrown in, offered in colorful boxes, sometimes with the word Kids! on the side to highlight or set off with photos to catch the reader’s attention. She also offers reviews of kid-friendly restaurants that also serve food adults will like and family-appropriate lodging close to attractions.
