The University of Colorado women’s soccer team won its home opener, defeating the University of Utah 4-2 on Thursday in Boulder.
Starters Michaela DeJesus, Gianna DeSaverio and Nikki Marshall each scored a goal for the Buffs, and reserve Allison Kidd added a fourth. Natalie Weeks and Amanda Foulk each had two assists.
Polk wins CGA Stroke Play Championship
Colorado Golf Club’s Robert Polk shot an even-par 70 in the final round to win the CGA Senior Stroke Play Championship at Greeley Country Club.
Polk, who also won the tournament in 2005, finished at 3-under-par 207, beating Richard Gorbell of Springs Ranch Golf Club by nine strokes.
CHL’s Eagles re-sign three players
The defending Central Hockey League champion Colorado Eagles have re-signed forwards Fraser Filipic, Steve Haddon and Scott Polaski for the upcoming season.
Filipic is the team’s all-time leader in penalty minutes with 828. Haddon had four goals during the Eagles’ playoff run last season, including a game-winner.
A graduate of Colorado College and a Colorado Springs native, Polaski has been with the Eagles the past two seasons, totaling 33 goals and 46 assists.
The Eagles begin their season Oct. 19 against Arizona, and their home opener is Oct. 24 against Tulsa.
The Rage begins the season at the Broomfield Event Center on Oct. 26 at 7:05 p.m., hosting Tulsa.
Tickets for DU hockey go on sale Saturday
The University of Denver has announced that individual game tickets for the 2007-08 Pioneer hockey season go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. Tickets start at $18 for adults and $10 for children under 12 and seniors.
