Key Players—CSU Jr. RB Kyle Bell returned from a knee injury that wiped out his 2006 season by carrying a career-high 40 times vs. Colorado, gaining 135 yards and scoring a touchdown. That was the most carries by a Rams running back since Oct. 12, 1985, when Steve Bartalo set a school record with 47 carries at New Mexico. … Rams TE Kory Sperry tied his career high with eight catches against Colorado and became the first CSU player to score three TDs in a game since Dustin Obsorn at Minnesota in 2005. … Rams QB Caleb Hanie was 20-of-27 for 229 yards and three TDs against the Buffs but his lone interception came in overtime of the Rams’ 31-28 loss. … KR DeSean Jackson was named the Pac-10 special teams player of the week after tallying 143 all-purpose yards on just six touches in the Bears’ 45-31 trouncing of Tennessee in the opener. … Also, Rams Sr. RB Justin Forsett was nominated for offensive honors and Jr. LB Zack Follett was a nominee for defensive honors.
Extra Points—Rams are trying to snap an eight-game skid. They haven’t won since Oct. 7, 2006. … The Bears are only the second Pac-10 team to visit Fort Collins. The first one, Oregon, spoiled Lubick’s debut with a 23-9 win in 1993, one of only two losses in 14 home openers during Lubick’s tenure. … Four years ago, the Rams upset the Bears when Jeff Babcock’s 32-yard field goal with 1:57 left sealed CSU’s 23-21 win. … The Rams aren’t wearing names on the backs of their jerseys this season. They’ll wear throwback jerseys Saturday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the school’s name change from Colorado A&M.
