
The public is invited to participate in a gala auction Sept. 19 as part of the fifth annual Hooked on a Cure, a Celebrity Fly Fishing Classic at the Sonnenalp Hotel in Vail.
The 6:30 p.m. event, which benefits the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for pediatric cancer treatment, features such angling notables as Flip Pallot, Jack Dennis, Jose Wejebe, Tom Rosenbauer and Jack Dennis in a format that provides two days of guided angling in the Eagle Valley.

Waterfowl clinic
The Colorado Division of Wildlife staff will offer information about hunting waterfowl in eastern Colorado at a Sept. 16 clinic at its office in Lamar, 2500 S. Main St. The 10 a.m.-3 p.m. event will cover a wide range of lore for both beginning and advanced hunters and is geared toward adults. Hunt for a cure
The sixth annual Celebrity Hunt for a Cure to fund research for Sturge-Weber Syndrome will be held Oct. 5-6 at Runaway Inn near Joes. The event, which attracts a lineup of sports and entertainment personalities, features a trap and skeet shoot, bird hunts, auction and entertainment, and has raised approximately $300,000 since its inception.
