Getting your player ready...
Say hey, Tigers center fielder Curtis Granderson can compare himself to Hall of Famer Willie Mays. Granderson joined Mays and Frank “Wildfire” Schulte on Sunday as the only players in major-league history with at least 20 stolen bases, 20 homers, 20 triples and 20 doubles in a season. Granderson stole his 20th base in the first inning against Seattle. He has 21 home runs, 22 triples and 36 doubles. “It’s amazing just to be mentioned in the same breath with him (Mays), being the baseball icon that he is,” Granderson said. “But I still have a long way to go to continue to be mentioned in a lot of categories with him.” Schulte accomplished the feat in 1911 with the Chicago Cubs, Mays in 1957 with the New York Giants.
