With their best golfers near the top of the leaderboard, Wichita State and Iowa State tied for top honors in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Sunday on the 7,301-yard, par-72 Eisenhower Blue Course at the Air Force Academy.

Wichita State’s Ryan Spears was the medalist with a three-round, 13-under-par 203. Iowa State’s Chris Baker was second at 207. Wichita State and Iowa State tied for the top team spot with 852. Colorado-Colorado Springs was seventh at 875, Colorado State was eighth at 876, Air Force was 11th at 885, Wyoming 15th with 900 and Northern Colorado 17th at 909.

Christensens lead DU soccer victory

Behind brothers Kellan and Kyle Christensen, the University of Denver men’s soccer team turned a 2-0 halftime lead into a 7-0 blowout of visiting Birmingham Southern (1-3-0) at Pioneer Field.

Kellan Christensen scored a hat trick and Kyle Christensen added two goals.

Denver (2-1-0) also got a goal apiece from Joe Mathot and Leon Abravanel.
