DENVER—There’ll soon be a new director heading up Colorado’s Division of Emergency Management.

Gov. Bill Ritter appointed Hans Kallam to the post on Tuesday. Kallam was most recently the director of operations for the adjutant general of the Colorado National Guard.

Before that, he was a National Guard commander.

Ritter says Kallam’s background give him the ideal skill set to lead the division.

The appointment follows the rescinding of a job offer to Chris Olson, who resigned from the Englewood Police and Fire departments in order to take the position.

The offer was withdrawn after a reporter questioned the governor’s staff about management problems in Englewood, and a domestic violence call to Olson’s home.

Kallam will start work October 1st.
