Skylab 2007 is going to be bigger and better than ever. Now in its 11th year, Skylab has long been a major dance massive, and Saturday night’s lineup includes multiple headliners on three stages. Armin Van Buuren, Bad Boy Bill, Donald Glaude, Tommy Sunshine and Freaky Flow with MC Dino will all perform on the main Skylab stage.
Lee Burridge will headline on the Beatport stage, and John Debo wraps the night on the Triad stage, with more than 30 total DJs performing through the night. The venue can accommodate 10,000 club kids, the bars will be open for 21+ until 1 a.m., and the party keeps going until 5 a.m. Sunday.
It all sounds great, except for one thing. It starts Saturday at 8 p.m., but organizers won’t announce the location until after 5 p.m. today.
“Our venue is legitimate,” said Brad Roulier, co-founder of Beatport, one of the main organizers and sponsors of the event. “But we’re not releasing the venue until after 5 p.m. on Friday. We got the city and the fire department and the police and everyone to sign off on it, so we’ll be fine, but we just can’t take a chance on any complications.”
Secrecy aside, Roulier did share a few pertinent details.
“It’s 20 minutes from downtown, and it’s huge. It can do over 10,000 at capacity, so this is going to be the biggest Skylab yet.”
Bring a hoodie. Two of the three stages are indoors, with one outdoor stage and some grassy chill-out areas.
Skylab 2007 runs from 8 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m Sunday, 18 and over; tickets and details available at .
Platinum Ball
Denver’s younger socialites are buzzing about this year’s Platinum Ball, an all-inclusive black-tie bash on Sept. 22 at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield.
The theme is Asian extravaganza, complete with geisha girls, dragon dancers and an Asian-inspired buffet. The main event takes place inside a hangar where jets and helicopters serve as part of the jet-set “world tour” decor. For a $100 charitable donation, you can even score a helicopter tour of Denver.
Sound like something you’d be into? Better get busy networking. You can’t buy tickets to the Platinum Ball; it’s all about knowing the right people. In this case, the right people are hosts Matt Carns, Kenton Kuhn, Skye Forrest, Kurt Tribelhorn, Marc Scroggs, Rick Harshman, Cayd Bader, Regina Fyola, Nick Sartini, Chris Sanchez and Bart Lorang.
