Getting your player ready...
When he was 15, Jay Osmon shot a 65. That would be the round of a lifetime for most golfers. Not for Osmon. On Sept. 5, he shot a 15-under-par 56 at Alamosa’s Cattails Golf Club, where he is assistant pro.
“I was dumbfounded,” head pro Bryce Bervig said. “I knew something was up when he made the turn.”
On the way to breaking his own course record of 62, Osmon, 30, made five birdies and two eagles on the front nine and shot 26.
“When Jay gets his putter rolling, he can’t be stopped,” Bervig said.
Playing for Alamosa High, Osmon won individual state titles in 1992 and ’94. He was en route Thursday to California, where next week he’ll compete in the prequalifying stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.
