ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo.—A 61-year-old hiker from Virginia got lost and spent the night on a high mountain ledge in Rocky Mountain National Park, but he emerged safe on Thursday with the help of two technical climbers.
Brandt Everhart of Suffolk, Va., had lost his way Wednesday while descending Mount Lady Washington, a 13,000-foot-plus peak, park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said.
He spent the night on a ledge below the summit and on Thursday morning spotted the two climbers, who help him down.
Patterson said Everhart and a hiking companion had separated on Wednesday morning. The companion called park rangers that night after Everhart did not return to the trailhead.
Everhart reached the trailhead at 5 p.m. Thursday and left in a private vehicle.
