
With the Sept. 29 opening of the Colorado waterfowl season nearing, many novice hunters struggle over where to hunt and what to do when they get there.
An upcoming waterfowl expo at Bass Pro Shops, 7970 E. 49th Ave., 720-385-3600. Co-sponsored by Ducks Unlimited, the event should put many of those concerns to rest. The Sept. 22-23 affair features several experts whose topics will cover virtually every aspect of the sport.
The schedule:
Sept. 22: 10 a.m., Jeff Colwell, Colorado tactics and techniques; 11 a.m., Brittany Sorensen, basic duck calling and calling for kids; noon, Mark Beam, Front Range goose hunting; 1 p.m., northeast Colorado snowgoose hunting; 1-3 p.m., retriever demonstration and seminars; 2 p.m., Shane McCoy and Nate Caldwell, goose calling and decoy layout; 3 p.m., duck identification; 4 p.m., Jeff Jordan retriever training.
Sept. 23: 11 a.m., McCoy and Caldwell, goose calling and decoy layout; noon, Sorensen, basic duck calling and calling for kids; 1 p.m., Jim Gammonley, history of geese in Colorado; 1-3 p.m., retriever demonstration and seminars; 2 p.m., Beam, Front Range goods hunting; 3 p.m., Colwell, Colorado tactics and techniques; 4 p.m., duck identification.
