Elk hunting might seem a daunting undertaking for someone who has never done it. To lessen the trepidation and improve odds of an elk steak on the table, the Colorado Division of Wildlife will offer a Wednesday seminar aimed at novices. The 6-9 p.m. event at DOW’s education building, 6060 Broadway, will be directed by Jim Bulger, hunting education coordinator, and will cover basic techniques. Registration is required. Phone 303-291-7113.

Antero reg moves on

The Colorado Wildlife Commission on Thursday moved its emergency regulation for Antero Reservoir closer to permanent approval at a meeting in Pagosa Springs. The two-fish, any-size limit was approved on second reading and will be up for final vote in October. The commission instructed Division of Wildlife staff to conduct further evaluation of the regulation’s effect and to sample public opinion toward establishing a more enduring rule for the next five-year regulation cycle.
