The Air Force men’s basketball team, returning from an NIT semifinals appearance last season, will face former coach Jeff Bzdelik when Colorado visits Clune Arena on Nov. 29. The Falcons officially released their 2007-08 schedule Monday.
It will be the Buffaloes’ first trip to Clune Arena since 1980, and will pit new AFA coach Jeff Reynolds against Bzdelik, who left the team after last season to coach in Boulder.
By coincidence, Air Force’s next game after Colorado will be at Northern Illinois on Dec. 4, against former CU coach Ricardo Patton.
Mammoth opens season Dec. 29
The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League, winner of the West Division title last season, will begin the 2007-08 season Dec. 29 at the Pepsi Center when the team hosts the Portland LumberJax at 7 p.m.
After a season-opening home-and-home series with Portland, the NLL scheduled the Mammoth for four of its next five games at home, featuring matchups with the Arizona Sting, San Jose Stealth, Edmonton Rush and Calgary Roughnecks.
Former Buff honored for big passing day
Quarterback Brian White, who transferred from the University of Colorado to Portland State early last season, is the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week after passing for 363 yards in a 35-24 victory against Sacramento State. White completed 26-of-37 passes, two for touchdowns, in coach Jerry Glanville’s run-and-shoot offense, and scored on a 2-yard run. He was sacked nine times.
Eagles re-sign forward Hartsburg
The defending Central Hockey League champion Colorado Eagles re-signed forward Chris Hartsburg for a fourth season.
Hartsburg was a CHL all-star and playoff most valuable player in 2005. He had career-high totals in goals (29), assists (35), points (64) and penalty minutes (106) last season.
