COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The manager of the Colorado Springs Intel plant slated for closure early next year was killed in a motorcycle crash in Douglas County, authorities said.
Sheriff’s officials said Morgan Burke, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene on Spruce Mountain Road about 7:30 p.m. Saturday
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cocha Heyden said no other vehicles were involved, and the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
Investigators said Burke apparently went off the side of the road, hit a post and was thrown some 300 feet. Heyden said Burke was wearing a helmet.
Burke had joined Intel as a program manager in New Mexico in 1992, then served in a number of managerial roles before working the past five years as the Colorado Springs plant manager.
Intel spokeswoman Judy Cara said Burke had recently returned from a family vacation to Italy.
Survivors include Burke’s wife, and two sons, ages 9 and 4.
