A 41-year-old woman turned herself in Wednesday afternoon, admitting she was the driver who hit a motorcyclist Sunday and fled the scene.
Renee Montano of Denver turned herself in to the Lakewood Police Department about 1 p.m. She was turned over to the custody of the Colorado State Patrol and has been charged with careless driving causing injury and failure to remain at the scene.
The motorcyclist, Michelle Zoril, 21, of Golden, was stopped at a red light just before 1 a.m. Sunday at U.S. 40 and U.S. 6 in Jefferson County, according to the State Patrol. She was thrown from the bike and broke her back.
Troopers at the accident scene found the front license plate of Montano’s car, a white 2004 Chrysler Sebring.
