The NFL today named Broncos place kicker Jason Elam the AFC special teams player of the week after Elam kicked his second game-winning field goal in as many weeks to defeat the Raiders on Sunday, the team said.

Elam, a 15-year pro, is the first kicker to win in consecutive weeks with game-ending field goals since Green Bay’s Ryan Longwell did it in 2004. His 23-yard kick in overtime gave the Broncos a 23-20 win over Oakland on Sunday. And his 42-yard kick as time expired in Week 1 gave Denver a 15-14 win over Buffalo.

The award is the fifth of Elam’s career and the 16th in team history.
