Anyone who caught the MTV Video Music Awards last week knows the other big story – besides Britney Spears’ “performance” – was the row between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee, a pair that makes most pro wrestlers look like British lords.
The fight netted Rock misdemeanor battery charges, and the circus only grows: Las Vegas promoter Jeff Beacher recently offered the rockers a $1.5 million bout on New Year’s Eve at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. And yes, they’re considering accepting.
You’ll have your chance to check out Rock when he hits the Paramount Theatre on

Maroon 5 follows Kelly Clarkson and Underworld in switching to much smaller venues. The L.A. pop act, formerly slated to play the cavernous Pepsi Center, will now perform at the Fillmore Auditorium. The Jesus and Mary Chain more or less invented the brand of gauzy, guitar- driven squall that seems to come back into fashion every few years. Hipsters will rejoice to hear the reunited act visit the Fillmore on Oct. 28 with the Lemonheads. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($35, Ticketmaster)
James Taylor’s sensitive, intimate folk-pop plays surprisingly well at larger venues, at least if past reviews are any indication. Tickets for Taylor’s Nov. 2 show at Colorado Springs’ World Arena are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($39.50-$79.50, Ticketmaster)
Brian Regan ought to have honorary residency here, considering how many times he regularly comes by. ($35.75-$39.50, or Ticketmaster)
