Qwest ranked highest in customer satisfaction among broadband Internet providers in the Western United States in a study released Wednesday by J.D. Power and Associates.
Verizon Communications and Earthlink ranked second and third, respectively, in the region, the study states.
Comcast ranked among the worst in the West. Comcast has had low scores in other customer-service studies, and the Philadelphia-based company has said it is working to improve the problems.
Denver-based Qwest and Comcast are the largest Internet providers in Colorado.
“Qwest’s reliable broadband service and our guaranteed price for life are two reasons we believe Qwest ranks highest when it comes to customer satisfaction,” Paula Kruger, Qwest executive vice president of mass markets, said in a statement.
Qwest offers a “price for life” guarantee on broadband service if customers agree to a two-year contract.
The J.D. Power study also says 35 percent of Internet service customers still subscribe to dial-up.
The study is based on responses from more than 16,000 residential customers of Internet service providers nationwide in July, according to J.D. Power.
The study is in its 10th year and measures customer satisfaction with high-speed and dial-up Internet service providers based on seven factors:
Qwest had a total score of 697 out of 1,000, followed by Verizon with 696 and Earthlink with 693.
