Federal regulators have cited a Twenty Mile Coal Co. mine in Routt County with submitting an emergency response plan that failed to meet federal requirements.
The plan for Foidel Creek Mine failed to include a provision for providing breathable air to miners trapped underground, the Mine Safety and Health Administration said Wednesday.
The agency said Foidel Creek Mine was the only underground coal mine in the country without an approved emergency response plan.
A mine representative said no one from Twenty Mile Coal Co. was available Wednesday.
