Golden — Former day-care provider Joseph Renander has been sentenced to 16 years on child-pornography charges.
Jefferson County District Judge Brooke Jackson passed the sentence today on two counts of possessing child pornography and a sexually explicit photograph of a child he knew.
Investigators said they found pornographic images on his computer. In August, Renander, 30, pleaded guilty to the two charges.
Last November, Renander was sentenced to serve at least 78 years in prison before he is eligible for parole on 17 counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and enticement of a child.
The new sentence will run concurrent with the previous one.
Renander owned and operated day-care centers in Golden and Lakewood, which were shut down after he was accused of sexually assaulting five girls, ages 3 to 8 years. The assaults took place between 2001 and 2005.
He was found guilty on those charges in April 2006.
