Flagstaff, Ariz. – Lance Kriesien threw for 216 yards and scored two touchdowns on short runs Saturday night as Northern Arizona opened Big Sky Conference play with a 34-14 win over Northern Colorado.
Lionel Scott also had a touchdown run and Robbie Dehaze kicked field goals of 26 and 27 yards for the Lumberjacks.
Kriesien completed 21-of-39 passes as the Lumberjacks (2-2, 1-0) rolled up 507 yards of total offense.
Northern Colorado (0-4, 0-1) now has a 12-game losing streak and still is seeking its first Big Sky win in the school’s second season in the conference.
Kriesien’s 6-yard TD run gave NAU a 14-7 lead 32 seconds before halftime and his 1-yard plunge in the third quarter made it 31-7.
Scott had 87 yards on 16 carries, including a 12-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
UNC got Mike Vlahogeorge’s 3-yard TD pass to Clint Wright in the first quarter and David Woods’ 4-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.
Vlahogeorge was 15-of-33 for 195 yards and threw one interception.
