The Colorado Division of Wildlife will seek public input on proposed changes to deer hunting seasons in southeast Colorado to reflect a whitetail-only hunt. Meetings, as follows:
* Tuesday, 6 p.m., La Junta Holiday Inn Express.
* Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., Lamar DOW office.
* Friday, 6 p.m., Springfield Community Building.
Moose management
A public meeting at the Creede Community Center at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 will discuss the management of moose in Unit 76 and the Weminuche Wilderness. Colorado DOW personnel will also hear comment on the use of aerators to forestall winter kill at Road Canyon Reservoir.
Pheasant boom
South Dakota’s survey of nesting pheasants indicates an 18 percent increase over the record 2005 population. The season opens Oct. 20.

The Colorado chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers has launched its new website, . The organization acts as a proponent for traditional values in preserving more pristine hunting and fishing opportunities. It espouses a conservation ethic in resource protection.
