The leader of a white supremacist prison gang was convicted of racketeering and assault charges today, and prosecutors said they will try to prove he is a habitual offender to put him away for life.
A jury convicted Benjamin Davis of violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of soliciting assault and conspiracy to commit assault, said Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors will hold a hearing Nov. 19 before Davis is sentenced to try to establish that he is a habitual criminal, Kimbrough said. If a judge determines he is a habitual criminal, he could be sentenced to life in prison without parole, she added.
Davis heads the 211 Crew, responsible for drug sales and beatings in and out of prison, prosecutors said.
