The U.S. Forest Service will host a gathering of volunteers Sept. 29 at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch near Granby for work on a series of forest and river-related projects as part of Public Lands Day.
Included are a public access trail to the Fraser River in Tabernash; a connection to the Bowen/Baker Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park; mountain biking trails in Winter Park; and a three-part action on the Blizzard Pass Trail.

Youth having a blast
Whiskey Springs Ranch near Crook will host a series of free cast-and-blast youth hunts that include target shooting, hunting for pheasant and chukar over dogs, safety instruction, catch-and-release fishing and lunch.
The sessions include interaction with three disabled sportsmen’s groups – Outdoor Buddies, Wheelin’ Sportsman and Outdoors Without Limits. Participants must be 16 and under with a hunter safety card.
