ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo.—An Iowa man who was late returning from climbing a 13,000-foot peak in Rocky Mountain National Park has been found safe.

Park rangers say searchers found 56-year-old Boyd Severson of Cedar Rapids hiking along a trailhead Tuesday evening and that he appeared to be in good condition.

Severson was last heard from shortly after noon Monday when he was near the summit of Mummy Mountain.

He had planned to return by 5:30 p.m., but he says he was delayed after the weather turned wintry in the park’s higher elevations, with three inches of snow reported in some areas.
