Denver is considering relaxing laws that forbid dogs on patios at cafes and coffee shops.
Under a proposal for Denver’s Department of Environmental Health, food establishments would be given the option to register their patios as “dog-friendly.”
Those businesses could allow dogs on patios under certain conditions including posting signs, using only disposable products for food and drinks, and having the area be self-serve only.
“We want to make sure that we are accommodating both businesses and customers who would like to make this choice in designated cafes while protecting the health and safety of Denver residents,” Nancy Severson, Manager of Denver Environmental Health, said in a release.
The rule change is posted on Denver’s website at . Email comments can be sent to phicomments@ci.denver.co.us.
Denver’s Board of Environmental Health will have a public hearing on the rule change at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 at location to be determined.
