Colorado College was tabbed No. 11 and Denver No. 12 in the USA Today/USA Hockey magazine preseason college hockey poll released Monday.
Front Range rivals CC and DU are two of five Western Collegiate Hockey Association teams among the top 15 – the most-represented conference in the poll.
North Dakota, a Frozen Four team last season, will begin the 2007-08 season ranked No. 1 after receiving 14 of 34 first-place votes. Michigan State, the defending NCAA champion, starts at No. 2, followed by national runner-up Boston College at No. 3.
Colorado College begins its regular season Oct. 19 when it hosts No. 4 Minnesota. DU hosts No. 13 Maine to begin its regular season on Oct. 12.
Volleyball’s top 25 includes CSU
The Colorado State women’s volleyball team entered the national CSTV/AVCA Division I coaches poll at No. 25 after the Rams posted Mountain West Conference wins over San Diego State and Nevada-Las Vegas last week.
CSU junior outside hitter Jaime Strauss was named the MWC player of the week after she tallied 36 kills and 18 digs during the two conference matches.
CU’s upset of OU to be rebroadcast
The telecast of Colorado’s 27-24 victory over Oklahoma at Folsom Field will be shown again today on FSN, beginning at 7 p.m. Oklahoma was ranked No. 3 entering Saturday’s game, which was the Big 12 opener for both teams.
