DENVER—Denver prosecutors say two people who were arrested in the death of a 3-year-old girl are being released without charges but the investigation is continuing.
Neveah Gallegos’ body was found in Denver about a week ago. The cause of death hasn’t been released.
District Attorney Mitch Morrissey said Monday was the deadline to file charges or release the suspects. He said prosecutors are still waiting for autopsy reports before deciding.
Neveah’s mother, 20-year-old Miriam Gallegos, was arrested on suspicion of false reporting, fatal child abuse and being an accessory.
Miriam Gallegos’ boyfriend, 22-year-old Angel Ray Montoya, had been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.
She had told police Neveah might have been kidnapped.
