This weekend looks to be the world series of transit for RTD planners and operators as up to 250,000 people converge on downtown Denver to parade, protest, walk, run and cheer on the Rockies, Broncos and Avalanche.
The Regional Transportation District will start the weekend with altered bus routes Saturday morning for the Columbus Day Parade in downtown Denver, which is expected to draw protesters and police.
For Saturday night’s third Rockies-Phillies baseball playoff game, RTD will have special express-bus service to Coors Field from park-n-Rides throughout the metro area, as well as extra light-rail service.
Go to rtd-denver.com for details on parade bus-route detours and express buses.
On Sunday, RTD will offer express-bus service and extra trains to the Race for the Cure and then BroncosRide bus shuttles and extra rail service to the 2:15 p.m. Broncos-Chargers game at Invesco Field at Mile High.
Added trains will stay on the line for the 5 p.m. Colorado Avalanche game at the Pepsi Center, and special bus service and extra trains will be available to get fans to the 8 p.m. Rockies-Phillies game if a fourth playoff game is needed.
