For the record: Air Force is 4-2, 3-1 in the Mountain West
Streaking: Air Force is trying for consecutive victories over archrival CSU for the first time since 1997-98.
Who’s hot: Wide receiver Chad Hall rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns and added 44 yards on receptions in helping the Falcons snap a two-game losing streak.
Who’s not: Air Force’s special teams. After blocked kicks and missed field goals in previous games, the problem against UNLV was a roughing the kicker penalty that ended a chance for good field position when the Falcons needed a boost.
Key stat: In a 31-14 victory over UNLV, the Falcons converted 5-of-11 third-down tries and 2-of-3 on fourth down.
FYI: Tailbacks Kip McCarthy, Jim Ollis, Chad Smith all have had 100-yard rushing days this season.
Coachspeak: “I didn’t see a whole lot that tells me we have a bunch of seniors and juniors playing. We do right now. In September, we were kind of hunting and pecking and trying to find out what we could do offensively and defensively. Candidly, we have to make some strides over the next six games.” – Troy Calhoun
