Authorities have arrested four members of a Colorado Springs drug ring associated with a Mexican drug distribution network, seizing 5.5 pounds of methamphetamine, cash, weapons and vehicles.

The investigation leading to the arrests on Sunday began in June when a confidential source provided information to a local U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration task force.

Subsequent wire taps led to Rene Sanchez-Quintero, 26, an alleged leader of the Colorado Springs arm of the Mexican organization, according to the El Paso County District Attorney’s office.

Also arrested were Gloria Monje-Martinez, 27, Anselmo Gomez-Madera, 42, and Jacon Elenes-Ibarra, 26.Agents seized $394,000 in cash, three vehicles, including a Cadillac Escalade, over 150 pounds of MSM, an agent used to cut meth, and seven weapons, including an AR-15 assault weapon.

The DEA, Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Pueblo Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, and the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office were all involved in the law enforcement effort.

“This is an excellent example of how local and federal law enforcement work together to achieve a common goal,” District Attorney John Newsome said in a release.
