An alleged drunken driver who hit a man walking home from LoDo has been charged with vehicular homicide, the Denver district attorney’s office said Tuesday.
Christopher Sprout, 30, was arrested Oct. 7 for investigation of vehicular homicide after the SUV he was driving struck and killed Kevin Watt, 24, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman. Jackson said Sprout faces prison time because he was drunk when his Volkswagen SUV struck Watt at 2:20 a.m. near Walnut and 29th streets.
Watt was a published poet and artist who worked for Aon Consulting in Denver, said his brother, Brian Watt, of Bethesda, Md. Brian, 31, described his younger brother as an outgoing person who made friends easily.
