The home team has won every game since the advent of the series in the Foothills in 2000. Pueblo South owns a 4-3 edge, including 41-14 last year. When the game has been in Pueblo, the Colts have won by an average of 25 points. On the other hand, when it has been on the Air Force base, it has been something completely different. The Kadets have held serve by tight scores of 24-21 (2004), 17-15 (2003) and 14-7 (2001). Since 2000, the only team other than the Kadets to defeat Pueblo South in the regular season was Rampart, in the 2002 opener.
In the spotlight. Behind quarterback Tony Medina, Pueblo South is within sight of its 10th consecutive playoff trip. The Colts have won 10 or more games for six straight years and have been the southern power in Colorado’s next-to-highest group.
Key matchup. Although quarterback Brennan Price and running back Bob Terry have been the main ground gainers for an effective Kadets attack, they will be facing a Colts defense quicker than in recent seasons. Air Academy’s mistakes also must be kept to a minimum – over the years, the Colts have made them pay through turnovers, penalties and field position.
