Getting your player ready...

Rockies right-hander Aaron Cook, left off the NLCS roster, will start Game 4 of the World Series manager Clint Hurdle announced today.

The Game will be Sunday night at Coors Field in Denver.

“It was one of those things I hoped would happen, but they didn’t give me a good read one way or another,” said Cook, who was told Monday night so that he would have time to make arrangements for his parents to get to Denver for Saturday’s Game 3.

“When Clint told me, I thanked him and Dac (pitching coach Bob Apodaca) for this opportunity,” Cook said.

The Game 3 starter at Coors will be Josh Fogg. Rookie left-hander Franklin Morales, a staple in the rotation for the final month of the season, will now come out of the bullpen.

Hurdle talked joyfully about adding Cook to the World Series rotations.

“He’s a man who has worked so hard for us and been through so much, but he never got down and was always a professional.”

Hurdle didn’t activate Cook for the NLCS against Arizona because he still thought Cook had to scrape off the rust accumulated over a long layoff.

Cook, who’s been fighting back from a strained oblique, hasn’t pitched since Aug. 10.

To make room for Cook, reliever Taylor Buchholz was left off the series roster.
