CC names tennis coaches
Colorado College on Wednesday tabbed former player Perry Wright its new women’s tennis coach and longtime coach Wayne Emerick the men’s coach, athletic director Ken Ralph said.
Wright was a four-year member of the men’s team through 2006. He previously was an assistant coach at Cheyenne Mountain and Heritage high schools.
Emerick was most recently a collegiate head coach of the men’s and women’s teams at Union College in Hamilton, N.Y., from 2003-05.
Adams State wrestlers ranked No. 4
The Adams State wrestling team will begin its season ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Coaches Association poll, and rival Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference squad Western State will start at No. 8.
Adams State finished fifth in last season’s NCAA Tournament. Western State, which returns six ranked wrestlers, earned a 10th-place finish last season.
Defending Division II national champion Central Oklahoma and RMAC favorite Nebraska-Kearney were voted co-No. 1 teams in the poll. Minnesota State is No. 3, followed by Adams State, Pittsburgh-Johnstown, Upper Iowa and Nebraska-Omaha. Adams State starts its season Nov. 10, Western State begins Nov. 8.
Metro State men’s soccer team ranked No. 9
The Metro State men’s soccer team was ranked No. 9 in this week’s NSCAA Division II national poll. The
Roadrunners (13-1-3) are followed by RMAC rival Fort Lewis (10-5-1) at No. 23. Northern Kentucky (18-0-0) retained its No. 1 ranking.
In the D-II women’s poll, Metro State received votes but was outside the top 25.
