A teenage girl died in a two-car crash in Chaffee County, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 285 about six miles south of Poncha Springs.
The State Patrol identified the dead victim as Sheree Miller, 17, of Salida.
A 17-year-old boy was driving a 1991 Mazda Protégé south on 285 when he lost control of the car, and it rotated clockwise, said Trooper Eric Zachareas.
The Mazda broadsided an oncoming 2001 Ford 350 pickup truck driven by James Fesing, 45, of Larkspur.
Miller died at the scene, Zachareas said.
The 17-year-old driver, who suffered serious injuries, is not being identified by authorities because he is a minor.
He was taken to Heart of the Rockies Hospital in Salida and then flown to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver.
Fesing, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
The crash is under investigation.
