A man wanted by Pueblo police on an outstanding warrant for attempted murder has been arrested in Fort Collins.

Daniel Lee Barela, 21, was arrested Wednesday by police in Fort Collins during a traffic stop.

The officers, with guns drawn, took Barela into custody without incident.

Investigators with the Pueblo police department and parole officers with the Colorado Department of Corrections received information earlier this month that Barela had been “hiding” in Fort Collins, authorities said in a press release.

On Wednesday, officers spotted Barela in a vehicle near Riverside and Lemay Avenues and stopped him in the 300 block of East Mountain Ave.

Barela is being held at the Larimer County Detention Center to await extradition to Pueblo.
