A joint investigation by federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents and Lakewood Police led to gunfire this afternoon outside a shopping plaza.
Matt Horace, acting special agent in charge for the ATF in Colorado, said he could offer few details, but confirmed that shots were fired about 3:15 p.m. during an investigation outside a shopping plaza in the 100 block of Union Boulevard in Lakewood.
Horace said ATF agents and Lakewood Police were conducting an investigation into a federal armed robbery case when they encountered two suspects. ATF agents fired the shots, but no one was hit. Still, one of the suspects was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries. The second was arrested.
Neither man’s name was released, nor was the condition of the injured man or the cause of his injuries.
More details will be posted on as they become available.
