Dubbel Dutch
The Dutch are known for many things: exquisite art, a laid-back attitude, tulips. But they’re often unfairly overlooked for their food. Enter Dubbel Dutch, a tiny Dutch-food importer (think licorice, waffle cookies, coffee and cheese) and sandwich shop just a block down from Regis Univeristy. Get a baguette stacked with Old Amsterdam cheese, lettuce, hard-boiled egg and cucumber, one of Denver’s tastiest lunches. 4974 Lowell Blvd., 303-480-9100. Tucker Shaw

“Simply Our Best” at Christmas at Our House
You gotta love a group (and a book) that starts with an “Advanced Margarita.” The Assistance League of Denver’s “Simply Our Best” ($21.50) contains such gems as Pot Roast (4-pound roast, 1 bottle ketchup, 1 can warm beer, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 teaspoons marjoram; 325 degrees, covered, for 3 hours). Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will go toward assault-survivor kits, arts for children, hospital equipment, scholarships and other projects. The league will sell cookbooks at the Tattered Cover bookstores and at “Christmas at Our House,” through Saturday at its headquarters, the Bosworth Mansion, 1400 Josephine St. The Victorian-era house will be decorated for Christmas and feature a gourmet kitchen.Kristen Browning-Blas
