Today. Art exhibit. Jeanette Pasin Sloan likes patterns and reflections, and she merges the two in her distinctive, eye-catching paintings of shiny, mirrorlike vessels. They can be found in the collections of such prestigious institutions as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The William Havu Gallery, 1040 Cherokee St., will present the first Denver exhibition of Sloan’s realist works today through Jan. 5. An opening reception is set for 6 to 9 tonight. 303-893-2360 or

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth’s Church on the Auraria campus and 4 p.m. Sunday in Boulder’s First United Methodist Church, 1421 Spruce St. Tickets are $20. 303-889-1012 or .

Tuesday. Music. The spirit of indie rock lives strong in Sea Wolf, the L.A. kids behind the excellent new release “Leaves In the River.” Songs like “You’re a Wolf” are reminiscent of Elliott Smith, with singer Alex Brown Church cooing his way through a jungle of smart prose. Equally important to Church’s vocals are his melodies and the cello lines that anchor the band’s full sound. (Yes, he tours with a full band, including a cellist.) Sea Wolf belongs to the Dangerbird Records collective of bands that also includes the Silversun Pickups, Eulogies, Darker My Love, All Smiles, Dappled Cities and others. And Sea Wolf – last seen in Denver opening for the Silversuns at a packed Ogden Theatre show – plays Tuesday at the intimate Larimer Lounge. More info: .
